(Must be at least 2 years old; Not required to be potty-trained)

Ladybugs is a gentle and nurturing introduction to preschool, thoughtfully designed for younger children. Class sizes are smaller, allowing teachers to provide individualized support, close supervision, and strong relationships with each child. Children focus on developing self-help skills, early independence, and socialization through play. Potty training is not required; however, children may begin exploring potty learning when they show interest, with encouragement and support from teachers. Our classrooms are grounded in play-based learning and guided by strong, trusting relationships between children and teachers.

Teachers offer short, developmentally appropriate group times that include music, stories, and movement. Each day includes a mix of structured and unstructured activities, allowing children to engage at their own comfort level and pace. Outdoor play and connection to nature are central to the Ladybugs program. Children spend time outside daily, building confidence through movement, exploration, and sensory play. During outdoor play, classes often integrate, allowing for multi-age exposure that supports social learning and a sense of belonging within the larger school community.

Ladybugs participate in a weekly music program, depending on their attendance schedule.

Children who turn three by December and become potty trained during the school year may be considered for transition into the Sprouts class, if space is available and teachers feel it is developmentally appropriate.

Sprouts is a supportive preschool program designed for children who are already potty trained and ready for a more independent classroom experience. Many children move into Sprouts from our Ladybugs class, though prior enrollment at Happy Hearts is not required. Children in Sprouts continue building fine motor, gross motor, language, and social-emotional skills while gaining confidence in daily routines. Children use the bathroom independently, with teachers providing reminders and support as needed. Teachers offer intentional group times that include music, stories, movement, and discussion. Our classrooms are grounded in play-based learning and guided by strong, trusting relationships between children and teachers.

Each day includes a balance of structured and unstructured activities, allowing children to explore, practice new skills, and learn at their own pace. A strong emphasis is placed on outdoor play and nature-based learning, with children spending extended time outside each day. Outdoor play often includes multi-age interaction, allowing children to observe older peers, practice leadership, and build social confidence.

The Sprouts class is intentionally designed to prepare children for a successful transition into our Blossoms Pre-K program. As children grow in independence, attention, and social awareness, teachers support the skills needed for the deeper project work, group experiences, and leadership opportunities offered in Blossoms. This continuity allows children to remain in a familiar, relationship-based environment as they take their next developmental step. Children in Sprouts participate in a weekly music program, depending on their attendance schedule.

Blossoms Pre-K is a thoughtful, relationship-based program designed to support children in the year before they transition to TK or Kindergarten. While many children move up from our Sprouts class and are already familiar with our teachers and routines, prior preschool experience is not required. Children in Blossoms often step confidently into leadership roles within our school community. They build independence, self-advocacy, and collaboration skills while continuing to strengthen fine motor, gross motor, language, and social-emotional development. Our classrooms are grounded in play-based learning and guided by strong, trusting relationships between children and teachers.

Teachers provide intentional group times that include music, stories, movement, and meaningful discussions. Curriculum themes are explored more deeply through long-term projects that reflect the children’s interests and curiosity. The Learning Without Tears curriculum is used to introduce letters, numbers, and pre-writing skills in a developmentally appropriate, hands-on way. A strong emphasis is placed on outdoor learning and connection to nature. Children spend meaningful time outside each day, engaging in active play, exploration, and project work. Outdoor play often includes multi-age interaction with other classes, supporting leadership, empathy, and social problem-solving.

Blossoms students participate in walking field trips throughout the school year and enjoy two enrichment experiences, depending on their attendance schedule: a weekly music program and a bi-weekly Spanish language program. The classroom is supported by a team of three teachers, including a credentialed educator with TK experience, allowing for small-group work, individualized support, and strong relationships. Our goal is for children to leave Blossoms feeling confident, capable, and genuinely excited about their next chapter.

Come join us for preschool! Your child is welcomed in the door and to join us for free play time.  We like to begin our morning exploring and interacting.  We do a morning circle time, which includes our theme for the day and many music and movement opportunities.  We do open centers where your child is free to explore different choices like sensory, art, science, dramatic play and more.  We venture outside for more play and exploration.  On our playground you can often find children digging for bugs, playing in the sandbox, running, jumping and climbing. We love to explore.  We eat lunch at 12:00 (provided by the families).  Pick up time for Ladybugs is right after lunch at 12:30. The other children play outside until 1:00 pick up or head in for resting time.

Parents provide a snack, healthy lunch & reusable water bottle.
